Cultivation of Microalgae in Unsterile Malting Effluent for Biomass Production and Lipid Productivity Improvement

چکیده
Microalgae have the potential to grow in nutrient-rich environments and ability accumulate nutrients from wastewater. The malting wastewater are ideal for microalgae cultivation. However, there is limited published work on growth characteristics of freshwater grown effluent. This study examined diluted effluent green algae Chlorella sp. Chlamydomonas isolated northern Ontario subsequent biomass lipid production. Under 18:6 h light/dark cultivation cycle, highest cell number counted (540 × 104 cell·mL−1 day 20) total chlorophyll content were found 50% effluents sp., whereas 70% dilution concentration was most productive (386 16). higher both (maximum 20.5%–minimum 11.5% dry weight) (max 39.3%–min 25.9% weight). These results emphasize suitability using unsterile

Quantitative Assessment of Microalgae Biomass and Lipid Stability Post-Cultivation
*Correspondence: Jason C. Quinn, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Utah State University, 4130 Old Main Hill, Logan, UT 84322-4130, USA e-mail: [email protected] Processing of microalgal biomass to biofuels and other products requires the removal of the culture from a well-controlled growth system to a containment or preprocessing step at non-ideal growth conditions, such as...
متن کاملAttached cultivation technology of microalgae for efficient biomass feedstock production.
The potential of microalgae biofuel has not been realized because of low productivity and high costs associated with the current cultivation systems. In this paper, an attached cultivation method was introduced, in which microalgae cells grew on the surface of vertical artificial supporting material to form algal film. Multiple of the algal films were assembled in an array fashion to dilute sol...
متن کاملOptimizing the Critical Factors for Lipid Productivity during Stress Phased Heterotrophic Microalgae Cultivation
Microalgae-derived biodiesel production is one of the promising and sustainable platform. The effect of selected stress factors (pH, temperature, salinity, and carbon supplementation) on microalgal lipids and carbohydrate production during heterotrophic mode of operation was studied using design of experimental (DOE) methodology (Taguchi approach) with variation at four levels (21 × 44). Experi...
متن کاملModelling lipid production in microalgae
Microalgae offer potentially great opportunities for producing biofuel. In order to optimize triglycerid production, this article proposes a dynamical model of microalgal lipid production. In this model, intracellular carbon is divided between a functional pool and two storage pools (sugars and neutral lipids). The various intracellular carbon flows between these pools lead to a complex dynamic...
متن کاملGrowth and lipid accumulation in response to different cultivation temperatures in Nannochloropsis oculata for biodiesel production
Background: Microalgal lipid is a promising feedstock for biodiesel production. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of cultivation temperature on the growth and lipid accumulation properties of Nannochloropsis oculata microalgae. Methods: Nannochloropsis oculatacan grow in a wide range of temperatures (5 ~ 35°C). Late in the stationary growth phase of microalgae, bi...
